4 Indian-Americans to receive prestigious Ellis Medal

New York: Four Indian-Americans will be awarded the prestigious Ellis Medal by the United States-based National Ethnic Coalition of Organisations for their "exceptional leadership, lifelong humanitarian services and outstanding contribution in the cultural field".

Among the awardees are, Gopal Raju, founder of popular ethnic weekly 'India Abroad'; Muhammed Majeed, president of Sabinsa Corporation; R Vijayanagar, cardio thoracic surgeon and Jay S Yadav, interventional cardiologist and director of Vascular Intervention at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

The awardees will receive the medals at a glittering function at the Ellis Island in New York on May 15.
