Cong MLA, 5 others arrested for possessing weapons Friday, April 30 2004 09:46 Hrs (IST)

Congress legislature party leader Furkan Ansari, who contested against BJP's (Bharatiya Janata Party) Pradeep Yadav for the Godda Lok Sabha seat on April 26, was today (Apr 29, 2004) arrested along with five others in connection with "illegal" possession of weapons and for blockade of road.
Inspector General of Police Kumud Chaudhury said that the police found three guns and 35 rounds of bullets from a vehicle allegedly belonging to the supporters of Ansari, who was also present.
They had also indulged in road blockade, he said and added the police were interrogating them to ascertain the motive behind their carrying the weapons.
Altogether 21 booths in Godda went for re-polling today.
