Delhi Police tonight arrested a doctor in connection with CBSE Pre-Medical Test paper leak case.
Nikhil Mehrotra, a close associate of kingpin in the racket Ranjeet Verma, was nabbed in Kanpur by a team of Crime Branch sleuths, police sources told reporters in New Delhi.
A fourth year MBBS student of Nagpur Medical College, Mehrotra is Ranjeet's classmate and had allegedly been involved in the conspiracy to leak the paper, they said.
Mehrotra, a resident of Kanpur, had flown with Ranjeet from his hometown to Delhi to allegedly help the main accused, particularly in solving the question papers pilfered out from CBSE two days before the examination on April 11, the sources said.
After the leak was detected by Crime Branch by raiding a premises in an East Delhi area on April 10, he had fled to Nagpur, they said.
He had managed to evade arrest when a Crime Branch team reached Nagpur as he had fled from there before that, the sources said.
