Babbar Khalsa in US Terrorism Exclusion List Friday, April 30 2004 09:44 Hrs (IST)
Washington:
Babbar Khalsa International and International Sikh Youth Federation have been designated by the United States as 'terrorist organisations for immigration purposes', thus placing them on the so-called terrorism exclusion list.
Announcing this, State Department Deputy Spokesman Adem Ereli said that ten groups figure in the list, which also includes the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (alias United Revolutionary People's Council, alias People's Liberation Army of Nepal).
All these organisations previously had been designated by the Secretary or Deputy Secretary (of State) under the Executive Order on terrorist financing.
The intention of the new designation is to complement with travel restrictions the assets freeze imposed on these organisations already.
