Six ultras killed, two injured in gunbattle in JK

Srinagar: Six militants were killed and two others, including a girl, injured in a gunbattle with Army today (May 6, 2004) in North Kashmir Baramulla district, Defence sources said.

Acting on a tip off, troops launched a search operation in Buth forest in Sonarwan area of Baramulla around 15.00 hrs (IST), which led to a fierce gunbattle with the ultras, the sources said.

They said six militants were killed in the gunfight, while an Army jawan and a girl were injured.

The operation in the area was still continuing and further details were awaited, the sources added.
