Chandrababu Naidu rules out support to Third Front Thursday, May 6 2004 22:16 Hrs (IST)
Hyderabad:
Ruling out any alliance or support to the Third Front, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu today (May 6, 2004) said the party was committed to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
"We are committed to support NDA and there is no question of extending any support to anyone other than NDA," Naidu told newspersons in an informal chat.
In the backdrop of Mulayam Singh Yadav's efforts to rope in some NDA constituents into his fold in the absence of a clear majority, Naidu said, "Mulayam Singh is my good friend and that doesn't mean that I will leave NDA."
Mulayam Singh yesterday said in Saifai in UP that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies would not get majority to form the Government and Samajwadi Party may try to form a Third Front in consultation with NDA constituents, including TDP.
Reacting sharply, Naidu, who is confident of his party getting majority in the state as well as NDA at the Centre, refused to be drawn further into the issue.
The recent exist polls predicted TDP's failure to get a majority due to anti-incumbency factor while the Congress will have an edge and may form the next Government in the State.
