Congress leader shot dead by militants in Jammu

Jammu: A Congress leader was shot dead by militants in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir early today (May 7, 2004), official sources said.

Militants opened fire on Congress block president of Doda Mohammed Jameel when he was on the campaign trail for the party candidate Lal Singh in Mawda in the district, the sources said.

Jameel was critically injured in the firing and was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
