Corruption was rampant during NDA rule: Sonia Friday, May 7 2004 21:29 Hrs (IST)

Making a scathing attack on the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government at the Centre, Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, said tonight (May 7, 2004) that corruption was rampant in all spheres in the past five years.
The country witnessed Tehelka scam, coffin scam and CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) reports had indicated the transfer of Army personnel who risked their lives, she said addressing a public meeting in Chennai tonight when she sought votes for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the State.
Sonia Gandhi said the NDA Government had destroyed the infrastructure, created during the previous Congress rule in the country.
She sought support for DPA in the State to defeat the communal BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) at the Centre and to send a signal to the Tamil Nadu Government that its end was nearing.
This is the first public meeting that Sonia Gandhi was sharing with the DMK President, M Karunanidhi. Congress party had joined hands with the DMK after a gap of 24 years.
