Give me two-thirds majority, not simple: Vajpayee Friday, May 7 2004 23:04 Hrs (IST)
Ghaziabad (UP):
As electioneering for Lok Sabha polls winds down, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee tonight (May 7, 2004) sought two-thirds majority for NDA, asking people to judge the "capacity" of leadership of other parties before casting their votes.
"I need two-thirds majority, not just simple majority (in Lok Sabha). Either this side or that," he said addressing a rally in Ghaziabad in support of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) candidate Ramesh Chandra Tomar.
"People have to judge the capacity to work and the zeal to serve," he said.
Vajpayee also appealed to all political parties to set aside their differences after the Lok Sabha elections and work together for the development of the country.
He said the country's resources could not be allowed to go waste because of differences between parties.
"Till the elections are over, parties will fight each other. But after the results are out, there should be no competition," he said.
"I want to tell all parties to come together to make India a great nation.
"After elections, there will be no option but to work together. So, I ask all parties to work with us," Vajpayee said.
