District Deputy Commissioner Manikant Azad said that the oil was stored illegally in a house for retail sale.

However, the reason for the fire was not known. "The oil somehow caught fire," he said.

Three of the injured have been sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, he said.

The sub-divisional officer has gone to the spot.
