Srinagar: Three unidentified militants were killed in a gunfight with Army troops in frontier district of Kupwara today (May 8, 2004), Defence source said.

Acting on a tip off, troops of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry conducted a search operation in Kachhihama forest where they were fired upon by hiding militants.

The troops fired back and in the ensuing encounter three unidentified militants were killed, the sources said.

The operation in the area was still continuing.
