Counting of votes for AP Assembly poll on May 11

Hyderabad: The counting of votes for the 294-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly will be taken up on May 11.

The electoral fortunes of 1,896 candidates who contested the Assembly polls on April 20 and April 26 will be known on Tuesday (May 11).

Among those whose fate would be decided are Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu (Kuppam), Information and Public Relation Minister Chandramohan Reddy (Sarvepally), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President Chandrasekhar Rao (Siddipet) and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President D Srinivas (Nizamabad).

Detailing the arrangements, State Chief Electoral Officer M Narayana Rao in Hyderabad today told reporters that about 10,000 counting personnel would be deployed for counting process.

All arrangements are in place for smooth and fair counting of votes, which will begin at 8 A M being made by the State election authorities and police in Andhra Pradesh, he said.

Unlike counting of ballot papers in earlier elections, this time the dissemination of elections results would be faster as first time Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in all polling booths were used in the State.

The counting of votes for the entire Assembly segment would take at one place, he said and added a total of 115 counting centres have been set up in 300 halls in the State.
