Hyderabad: The Congress today (May 11, 2004) said it would like its ally Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to be part of the new Government in Andhra Pradesh and it was for left parties to decide whether they would like to be in it.

With the Cong-TRS combine all set to make a comeback in Andhra Pradesh, the party deputed senior leader Shivraj Patil as observer to supervise the election of Congress Legislature Party leader at its meeting to be held in Hyderabad tomorrow (May 12, 2004).

"We are very happy and would like to congratulate people of Andhra Pradesh for reposing their faith in the Congress, its leader Sonia Gandhi, party's policies and programmes," Azad said.

Asked who would be the State's new Chief Minister, he said, "I don't know but we would like that the CM should be one among the MLAs."

On whether alliance partner TRS would be part of the Government, he said, "We contested the elections together and they would be very much part of the Government."

To a question about the inclusion of the left parties, who were part of the Congress-led alliance, in the new Government, Azad said, "It is for them to decide."
