NDA hasn't decided on talks with any party: Naidu Wednesday, May 12 2004 21:20 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu today (May 12, 2004) said National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has not talked to any party about Government formation in case of a hung Parliament and its convenor George Fernandes might be holding discussions on his own.
"George Fernandes is a senior leader and has a right to talk to anybody. NDA has not decided on holding talks with anybody," he told reporters in New Delhi.
Naidu said the NDA had reviewed the situation and the coalition was confident of getting a majority. "We will be able to form Government," he asserted.
Party leader Arun Jaitley said BJP did not foresee a "deadlock situation" and a solution would be found if such a situation arose after the results.
He, however, maintained the party was confident of getting the "relevant figure" or coming "strikingly close" to majority, making a debate on who forms the next Government irrelevant.
He said the NDA's strategy could not be made public till results are out.
