Cong leads in 5 seats in Assam: BJP, AGP 2 each

Guwahati: The Congress was leading in five of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, trends of which were available till now.

Elections were held for 14 seats in the State.

In the prestigious Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, Kirip Chaliha (Congress) was ahead of singer-lyricist Dr Bhupen Hazarika (BJP) by 3103 votes.

Congress was also leading in Karimganj, Kaliabor, Tezpur and Jorhat.

The BJP and AGP were leading with a kitty of two each.

The BJP was leading in Mangaldoi and Nowgong while the AGP was leading in Barpeta and Dibrugarh.

In the two other seats, CPI-ML was leading in autonomous district while an Independent was leading in Kokrajhar.
