Congress wins 2 of 7 seats in Delhi, BJP gets one

New Delhi: Congress today (May 13, 2004) won two of the seven seats in Delhi with Union Minister Vijay Goel conceding defeat, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got one seat.

Jagish Tytler of Congress wrested Sadar constituency by defeating Vijay Goel by a margin of about 16,000 votes.

Tytler got 1,40,073 votes while his rival could get only 1,24,097 votes.

Congress candidate from Karol Bagh constituency Krishna Tirath trounced the BJP rival Anita Arya by over 38,000 votes.

Tirath garnered 1,38,596 votes while Arya got 1,00,967 votes.

Vijay Kumar Malhotra of BJP won South Delhi seat defeating R K Anand of Congress.

In Outer Delhi, Labour Minister Sahib Singh Verma was trailing behind Congress party's Sajjan Kumar by nearly 1,67,000 votes.
