BJP establishes early lead in Karnataka Assembly

Bangalore: Initial trends of counting for 224 Assembly seats in Karnataka indicated that the BJP was leading in eleven constituencies followed by JDS in five and the ruling Congress in three constituencies.

The BJP candidates were ahead in Mangalore, Bantwal, Puttur, Madikeri, Sulya, Virajpet, Udupi, Kaup, Maddur, Nargund and Navalgund Assembly constituencies.

JDS nominees were leading in Srirangapatna, K R Pet, Mandya, Gundlupet and T. Narasipura, while Congress was ahead in Somwarpet, Vitla and Haliyal constituencies.

The JDU which has seat-sharing pact with BJP was leading in Kiragavalu assembly constituency.
