Amethi: "I wish all the best to Vajpayee. I wish him many years in the future... I am saying this from my heart and not saying this for the sake of saying it," said Rahul Gandhi, soon after winning Amethi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Gandhi, who won the seat by a massive margin of over three lakh votes, told reporters in Amethi that he would now strive to become an "adult" in politics.

His reference was to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's remark that he was a "child" in the rough and tumble of politics.

"That time (when Vajpayee said I am a child) I had said that I respect Vajpayee. Now as a child I will try to become an adult," he said.
