BJP to re-constitute organisational structures
Friday, May 14 2004 22:19 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The debacle in the Lok Sabha polls is set to trigger a churning within Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and organisational reshuffle and "galvanisation" of its cadres are on the cards.

The party's top leaders, including Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who have been meeting since yesterday's poll outcome, also felt that they failed to gauge the "undercurrents" among the electorate who voted the party out of power.

According to highly-placed BJP sources, there are no immediate plans to replace party president M Venkaiah Naidu whose "hardwork" has been commended by one and all including Vajpayee.

Naidu is expected to re-constitute the national executive and team of office-bearers inducting several new faces and expanding the team. A similar exercise is planned at the State-level too.

A meeting of the national executive to analyse the poll outcome and take stock of the post-poll political scenario is also scheduled for next month.
