Two LeT militants, jawan killed in JK gunbattle Sunday, May 16 2004 15:31 Hrs (IST)

A tehsil commander of Lashkar-E-Toiba (LeT) was among two militants killed in a gunbattle in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir today (May16, 2004), which also claimed the life of a jawan, official sources said.
On a tip off, security forces launched a seek and destroy operation in Dodaje forest belt of Darhal tehsil in Rajouri district which led to an encounter between troops and the militants, the sources said.
In the firing exchange, two militants were killed and a jawan critically injured. The injured jawan later succumbed to injuries.
One of the militant was identified with the codename of Abu Zakir, tehsil commander of LeT, and another was identified as Abu Hulfi. Both militants belonged to Pakistan.
Two AK rifles, 4 magazines, 137 rounds, 7 grenades, 3 UBGL grenades, 110 pika rounds, one radio set and some explosive material were recovered from them.
