'Market crash engineered by BJP to create a scare'
Monday, May 17 2004 18:07 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Communist Party of India (CPI) today (May 17, 2004) said the stock market crash was a result of the deliberate attempt by a section of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to create a scare about the new Government at the Centre.

"Stock market and Sensex was artificially boosted up by BJP to create an impression that Indian economy was shining, which, as we know, was a partial truth," A B Bardhan, CPI general secretary, told reporters.
