New Delhi: Expressing relief that the "atmosphere of confusion and uncertainty" was over, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tonight (May 19, 2004) hoped that the Manmohan Singh-led Government would give stability and promised support to its "positive" initiatives for the development of the country.

"We are happy that the atmosphere of confusion and uncertainty is over. We hope that the new Government will give stability, good governance and continue with the development initiatives undertaken by the previous Government," party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

He said the BJP would play the role of a "constructive Opposition" and support the Government's positive initiatives aimed at the country's progress.

Naqvi, however, said the party would "closely watch" the developments within the Congress Party.
