Congress to get fresh letters of support from allies
Wednesday, May 19 2004 11:42 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: A move is afoot by Congress to get fresh letters of support from pre-poll allies and other coalition partners to back a Government that could be headed by Dr Manmohan Singh.

Senior Congress leaders have been sent to allied partners for getting the fresh letters as earlier letters of support were for a government headed by Sonia Gandhi, sources said.

The sources said the letters could be secured by afternoon and these could be handed over to President A P J Abdul Kalam to invite Singh to form the new government in the wake of the Congress President refusing to become the Prime Minister.
