Cong drama continues: AICC office-bearers resign

New Delhi: All members of Congress Working Committee (CWC) and office-bearers of All India Congress Committee (AICC) resigned last night (May 18, 2004) in protest against party President Sonia Gandhi's decision not to accept Prime Ministership.

This was announced by Congress General Secretary Ambika Soni at a press conference in New Delhi today.

Soni said a delegation of senior leaders including like Gulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel, Natwar Singh and Soni would be meeting Gandhi at 1.15 pm to put "as much pressure as possible" to make her withdraw her decision.
