Stamp scam: Telgi may be produced in court tomorrow Wednesday, May 19 2004 16:23 Hrs (IST)

Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket is likely to be produced in the court tomorrow (May 20, 2004) following a production warrant issued by the special judge S M Shembole after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) asked for his police custody
.
Earlier, the CBI had moved an application seeking police custody of four accused including the prime accused Telgi, Kadar Shan Yousouf Singoti alias Sajju, Jaiprakash Bangali and Mohammad Sayeed Yasin.
In the last hearing, the CBI, which has taken over the investigations of the stamp paper racket as per the direction of the Supreme Court, had sought custody of Telgi and others for interrogations.
In a related development, incarcerated Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) MLA Anil Gote yesterday filed one more application seeking temporary bail for attending the Assembly sessions starting from May 24. This application will come up for hearing tomorrow.
