Monday, May 24 2004 18:43 Hrs (IST)

Jammu: Seven persons, including two security personnel, were killed in separate militancy-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir where security forces busted seven militant hideouts and apprehended three foreigners since last night (May 23, 2004), official sources said today.

Militants barged into the house of one Talabuddin in Mohra-Sanjot area of Rajouri district last night and killed him and his son Zakir Hussain on the pretext of being informers of security forces, the sources said in Jammu.

They said militants attributed the killing of their two associates in the same area by Rashtriya Rifle troops on April 30 to the information allegedly given by the duo.

In another incident, two militants entered into the house of Fayaz Hussain in Karyot village of Thanamandi area of Rajouri district around 21.00 hrs (IST) yesterday and killed him.

Ultras kidnapped constable Tanveer Hussain from Dudasan Bala village in Surankote tehsil and later killed him. The body of the constable was recovered this morning, they said.

Police also recovered sepoy Jagjit Singh's body in Bhadra Talab in Akhnoor tehsil of Jammu district last evening, they said, adding he may have been killed by the ultras.

Reports from Udhampur district said two civilians were killed when ultras, who had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) at Lancha area Gool-Mahore area to target security forces, exploded around noon yesterday killing two civilians, identified as Manzoor and Wazir walking through the area at the time of blast, on the spot.
