Monday, May 24 2004 21:21 Hrs (IST)

Jaipur: Rajasthan Government today (May 24, 2004) decided to increase retirement age of its employees to 60 years.

The decision to increase the retirement age from present 58 years to 60 years was taken by the State Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, an official spokesman said.

The Cabinet also decided to increase the maximum age for entry into Government job by two years to give more employment opportunities to youths, the spokesman said.

The previous Congress Government had reduced the retirement age from 60 to 58 in 1998 to give more employment opportunities to youths.

The move would help the Government to save Rs 600 crores a year towards payment of retirement benefits to its employees, the spokesman added.
