Justice R C Lahoti appointed Chief Justice of India

Justice Ramesh Chandra Lahoti was today (May 25, 2004) appointed as the next Chief Justice of India with effect from June 1.
Justice Lahoti succeeds Justice S Rajendra Babu, who retires on June 1.
