TRS' Rao offers to give Shipping portfolio to DMK

New Delhi: In a bid to end the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-Congress stand-off over portfolio allocation, Telungana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today (May 25, 2004) met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and offered to relinquish the Shipping Ministry being sought by the Karunanidhi-led party.

Rao told reporters after his meeting with Singh that he requested the Prime Minister to "reallocate" the portfolio.

The Prime Minister expressed happiness over the sacrifice he was ready to make, the TRS chief said.
