World leaders hail Vajpayee's statesmanship Tuesday, May 25 2004 21:27 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Russian President Vladimir Putin rang up former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee this evening (May 25, 2004) and expressed deep appreciation of his personal contribution in strengthening Indo-Russian ties.
Vajpayee expressed the hope the continuity in the process would be maintained.
He expressed appreciation of Putin's personal support in enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Vajpayee also received a letter from British Prime Minister Tony Blair admiring his statesmanship.
Bhutan King Jigme Singye Wangchuk and Nepalese Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa have also written to Vajpayee appreciating his contribution in promoting relations with their countries.
