Deve Gowda holds another round of talks with Sonia Thursday, May 27 2004 09:17 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Amidst speculation that Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Dharam Singh will head the new coalition Government in Karnataka, Janata Dal (Secular) president and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda today (May 26, 2004) held yet another round of talks with Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the formation of the ministry.
Gowda held a 20-minute meeting with Gandhi and later said that a clear picture on the Government formation would emerge in a "day or two".
This was his fourth meeting with Gandhi after the Assembly elections threw a hung House in the Southern State.
"Whether it is a Maharashtra model under which Congress heads the Government or a J and K model in which the smaller coalition partner takes over the mantle, the portfolios are not the issues. The issue is how to stop the growth of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). The BJP has grown in this elections in the State," Gowda said.
Gowda said that JD-S (Janata Dal-Secular) legislature party had discussed various issues of Government formation in the State and the party MLAs said there should be no truck with BJP.
Dharam Singh was expected for discussions with Gandhi, he said.
