Thursday, May 27 2004 16:15 Hrs (IST)

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The city police and the military intelligence raided a photocopy centre in the cantonment area in Jabalpur and recovered several incriminating documents and maps, which were allegedly being passed secretly to Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI).

However, apparently after getting a cue about the raid that took place last night (May 26, 2004), the owner of the photocopy centre escaped and is still at large, police said today (May 27, 2004).

Police recovered important documents about Army training, communication related to ordnance factory photographs and maps, which were allegedly being passed on secretly to ISI. Nearly two-dozen secret books were also seized.

Three men and a woman employee of the photocopying centre were interrogated, police said adding, intense questioning of these employees continued till late at night.

A police spokesperson said the military intelligence was on the lookout for last six months for Pakistani agents in Jabalpur, who were sending secrets of the Army centres and ordnance factory to their country.

Police suspect involvement of an agent, suspected to be connected with ISI, who was rounded up by the police at Bhopal yesterday. He sent important information to Pakistan using e-mails from a cyber cafe.

The agent, lived at Bhopal since seven months and had allegedly prepared for himself a ration card, a voter's card and also used his right to vote in the recent Lok Sabha elections, police said.
