Laloo orders escorts on trains to ensure security
Friday, May 28 2004 15:47 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav today (May 28, 2004) expressed serious concern over the dacoity in the Delhi-bound Farakka Express and ordered deployment of escorts on all trains for the security of passengers.

"I have sent inspector general and superintendent of railway police to nab the culprits. I have also ordered that escorts should be deployed on all the trains to provide security to railways and its passengers," he said.

The Minister said strongest possible action would be taken against those found involved in the incident. "I have already directed to fix responsibility in this matter," he added.

The dacoits shot dead a Border Security Force (BSF) inspector who resisted them and looted cash and valuables worth Rs two lakhs of the passengers on the Delhi-bound Farakka Express before escaping at Raghunathpur station in Bihar last night (May 27, 2004).
