Jaipur: External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh believes that a cricket team consisting of players from the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) countries can certainly be the best in the world.

The SAARC cricket team consisting of players from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka can be the best team in the world, said Singh while interacting with mediapersons at the residence of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Janardan Singh Gehlot.

However, Singh said he did not know if it is possible to form such a team.

He also said his party would not let politics "affect" the game of cricket between India and Pakistan.

"Congress always maintained that politics should not affect the game of cricket between the two countries and we still believe in it," he said.

"Sports should be kept out of politics," Singh said when asked about improving relations with Pakistan through cricket.
