Telgi arrested in fresh case of cheating Oriental Bank

Pune: In a significant development, city police today (May 29, 2004) arrested prime accused in multi crore stamp paper racket Abdul Karim Telgi in a fresh case of printing and selling counterfeit stamps to Oriental Bank in Pune.

He was produced before a sessions court, which remanded him to police custody till June 8 in Oriental Bank cheating case. Telgi would be lodged in Chaturshrungi police station.

Earlier, Telgi was arrested in the multi-crore fake stamp paper case registered by Bund Garden police station. The case was later transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as per Supreme Court orders. Telgi was today remanded to judicial custody till June 8 in this case also.
