VHP to work out a fresh strategy on Ram temple Sunday, May 30 2004 14:58 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to work out a fresh strategy to pursue its Ram Temple movement in view of the change of guard at the Centre and has convened a Working Committee meeting next month in this regard.
The meeting, in which nearly 150 office-bearers from all over the country will assemble at a yet-to-be-decided venue, will focus on "sharpening" and "intensifying" the movement mainly for enactment of a law for temple construction.
"The change in political situation will be the main issue at the meet and the temple movement strategy will be given a new touch," VHP sources said, adding the exact date of the meeting was being worked out.
The Sangh Parivar outfit is also likely to decide on a signature campaign programme for temple construction besides pursuing other 10 points of its Hindutva agenda that includes bringing about Uniform Civil Code and ban on cow slaughter.
"We want construction of Ram Temple at the place of the Lord's birth in Ayodhya," they said.
