IIMs asked to come out with common fee structure
Monday, May 31 2004 14:56 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Government today (May 31, 2004) asked the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to come out with a common fee structure so that the issue could be resolved by the end of next month.

"The Director of the business schools have been asked to hold consultations among themselves by June 6 and forward their suggestions which will be discussed at the ministry level on June 8 and then the Boards will finalise it by June 25," Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh said.

He was talking to reporters after a two-hour long meeting with the Directors and Chairmen of the IIMs to break the impasse over drastic reduction of fees effected by the previous HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi.
