IIMs to meet to for a 'solution' on the fee-cut issue Saturday, June 5 2004 11:47 Hrs (IST)

Buoyed by the response of the new Union Government, directors of all six Indian Institute of Managements (IIM) are scheduled to meet tomorrow (Jun 6, 2004) for a "solution" to the vexed autonomy issue that was questioned by former HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and the fee-structure that was slashed from Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 30,000.
"We will go into the meeting with a positive frame of mind to bring a solution to the issue," IIM-A (Ahmedabad) director Bakul Dholakia said.
IIM (Indore) director S P Parashar, IIM (Bangalore) P Apte, IIM (Kolkota) director Shekhar Chaudhary, IIM (Kozikode) Krishna Kumar, IIM (Ahmedabad) Bakul Dholakia IIM (Lucknow) Devi Singh are scheduled to be present for the meeting.
The crucial meeting follows a detailed meeting of Directors of Management Institutes last week with HRD Minister Arjun Singh, who put the ball in the court of the IIMs to decide on the fee structure and inform the Government on June 8.
