Karnataka ministry expanded, ten ministers sworn-in Saturday, June 5 2004 13:41 Hrs (IST)

After a protracted exercise over portfolio sharing, the eight-day old Congress-JDS (Janata Dal-Secular) coalition ministry in Karnataka was expanded today (Jun 5, 2004) with the induction of 10 ministers five from each partner.
In tune with a portfolio sharing deal worked out by senior leaders of both parties in Delhi yesterday (Jun 4, 2004), the new ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor T N Chaturvedi on the portals of Vidhana Soudha.
Congress' M Mallikarjun Kharge, Prakash Hukkeri, K Srinivasa Gowda, S R More and Tanvir Sait and JD(S)' M P Prakash, P G R Sindhia, H D Revanna, D Manjunath and Mirajuddin Patel were inducted into the ministry which had assumed office eight days ago.
Sait was sworn-in as a Minister of State, while nine others were given Cabinet rank.
