Monday, June 7 2004 20:16 Hrs (IST)

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Government today (June 7, 2004) made it clear that it did not intend to send the State police personnel to train Iraqi police either to Iraq or Jordan.

Denying press reports in this regard, Chief Minister A K Antony said in Thiruvananthapuram that there was no question of the Government accepting the proposal that the Iraqi police personnel be trained in the State police academy or trainers from the State be sent to Iraq or Jordan to train the Iraqi police.

The Union Home Ministry had sent a letter to the State seeking the possibility on the matter.

The Government had already made it clear that it was not in a position to comply with the request, a press note issued by the Chief Minister said.
