Laloo studying Godhra file to reveal exact truth
Tuesday, June 8 2004 19:53 Hrs (IST)

I suspect BJP because they can do anything for power, says Laloo
New Delhi: Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, who is studying Godhra train carnage file, today (June 8, 2004) said he would bring out the "factual position" with regard to the incident before the nation.

"I will bring the factual position about the carnage. Who were the people travelling in the ill-fated Coach S-6 of the train. Whether Kar Sewaks were in the compartment. Whether the Coach was burned from outside or inside," he told reporters when asked about Government's stand on the carnage.

"We are studying Godhra file. We are also consulting legal experts on the train tragedy. We hope to reach on some conclusions within a couple of weeks," and would bring "factual position" about the carnage before the nation.

It was the responsibility of the Railways to come out with exact truth, he added.

Asked why so far there were only 14 claimants for compensation in the carnage, Laloo said he was not aware about it but would definitely look into the matter. "This aspect is also being studied."

To a question if the Godhra carnage was linked with Gujarat riots, he said, "suspicion is there. They (BJP) can do any thing for power. They had put the entire blame for riots on ISI."

He alleged that during the riots minorities and minority areas were targeted in a planned way by the trained RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh) persons who had arrived there from all over the country.
