BSE: Sensex opens slightly lower, moves irregularly

Mumbai: The sensex opened slightly lower and moved irregularly at the opening session on the Stock Exchange, (BSE) today (Jun 10, 2004) on alternate bouts of buying and selling.

The BSE-30 share sensitive index resumed weak at 4954.06 as against yesterday's (Jun 09, 2004) close of 4963.75 and fluctuated in a range between 4960.84 and 4919.94 before being quoted at 4953.39 at 10.30 hrs (IST), showing a fall of 10.36 points.

Index-based shares like BHEL, Grasim, Hindalco, Maruti Udyog, ONGC, REL, SBI and Tata Motor showed marked falls on profit-selling while HDFC Bank, HPCL, Infosys Tech, ITC, MTNL and Satyam Computer were quoted remarkably higher.

Negative Wall Street advices also partly aided the downtrend. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq Composite index dropped by 64.08 points and 32.92 points last night respectively.
