10 Chinese workers killed in Afghan terror attack Thursday, June 10 2004 10:20 Hrs (IST)

At least 10 Chinese construction workers were killed and six others wounded today (June10, 2004) in a terrorist attack in Afghanistan, the State media reported.
The condition of one of the injured was critical, Xinhua news agency reported from Kabul.
An official from the Chinese embassy to Afghanistan said the attack occurred at around 01:00 hrs local time on a construction site 36 km South of Kunduz province when some 20 gunmen opened fire at Chinese workers and security guards.
Around 100 workers were at the site. Many of them had arrived in the country on Tuesday (June 8, 2004).
Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Sun Yuxi was on his way to the scene, which is a six-hour drive from Kabul.
Last month, three Chinese nationals were killed and nine others were wounded when an unoccupied car exploded near their bus in Gwadar, about 500 km west of Karachi, Pakistan.
