New Delhi: India's Ambassador to Nepal, Shyam Saran was today (Jun 10, 2004) appointed as new Foreign Secretary.

Saran's name was cleared by the Appointment's Committee of the Cabinet, an official announcement said.

Saran, an Indian Foreign Services Officer of 1970 batch, will succeed Shashank, who retires on July 31.
