New Delhi:
A Delhi court today (June 23, 2004) remanded fake stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody till June 23.
Metropolitan Magistrate V K Khanna remanded Telgi to 14 days CBI custody after the Special Public Prosecutor J S Wadia submitted that he needed to be interrogated in connection with a case of recovery of fake stamp papers here almost two years ago.
He said the case which was registered at Hauz Khas Police Station was later transferred to the CBI.
"Expert examination of these papers had revealed their similarity with the case registered at Pune," he said, adding Telgi needed to be interrogated in this connection.
Moreover, two accused who have been arrested in the case had alleged involvement of Telgi, he claimed.
The counsel added that Telgi had to be taken back to the Yeravada jail in Pune by June 25 to enable his production in the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court there.
