Former RS member Najma Heptullah formally joins BJP

New Delhi: Najma Heptullah today (Jun 11, 2004) joined the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), a day after it nominated her as a party candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections from Rajasthan.

She met party president M Venkaiah Naidu this morning and formally joined the party, BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said today.

She resigned yesterday (Jun 10, 2004) from the Congress, which had got her elected to Rajya Sabha for four terms totalling 24 years.
