'Manmohan is the weakest Prime Minister ever' Tuesday, June 15 2004 17:16 Hrs (IST)
Dhanbad (Jharkhand):
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary, Shahnawaz Hussain, today (Jun 15, 2004) said that if Sonia Gandhi had no lust for power and post she should not have accepted chairmanship of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
''It has sent a wrong message that Manmohan Singh is capable of being the Prime Minister, but not found fit to lead the UPA while Atal Behari Vajpayee was both the leader of the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) as well as the Government,'' the former Textile Minister said.
He said that Manmohan Singh had proved to be the weakest Prime Minister who has no power to select his own ministers as supporting parties were dictating him in this regard.
The BJP national secretary alleged that for the sake of power and fear of "Bhajappa bhoot" (BJP ghost) Left parties had shunned its ideology and policy by allegedly compromising with "criminals and corruption-oriented" alliance Government.
Left parties had no moral right to compare former ministers in the BJP Government with the present UPA Government ministers who were accused of murder, corruption, extortion and others' charges.
"The NDA will not compromise on it and boycott of the Houses will continue until they are sacked."
