AP declares ceasefire to resume talks with naxals

Hyderabad: Conceding the main demand of naxalites, Andhra Pradesh Government today (June 16, 2004) declared ceasefire to pave way for resuming talks with People's War Group (PWG).

The declaration of ceasefire for a three-month period was made by the State Home Minister K Jana Reddy at a press conference in Hyderabad this evening.

The PWG had yesterday demanded announcement of ceasefire, constitution of a committee to monitor its implementation and safe passage for its representatives participating in the talks with the Government.
