One BSF officer killed, 12 injured in J&K blast

Srinagar: One BSF (Border Security Force) officer was killed and 12 others, including four jawans, were injured when militants exploded a grenade inside a vehicle of security personnel in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir today (June 17, 2004).

Militants lobbed a grenade on a BSF vehicle at Iqbal market of the town in Baramulla district, 55 kms from Srinagar, around 3.45 p m, which exploded inside it, BSF DIG K Srinivasan said.

One Assistant Commandant was killed in the blast while the condition of three injured jawans was critical, he said.

The other injured were civilians, including three labourers, official sources said.
