Asserting that the Centre was willing to talk to anyone in Kashmir, the Government's interlocutor on Kashmir N N Vohra today (June 17, 2004) said there was a possibility of meeting with moderate Hurriyat Conference led by Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari for the third round of talks in the first or second week of July.
"I am here as part of India-European Union roundtable. (But) there is possibility of meeting Hurriyat leaders at their convenience," he told reporters on his arrival in Srinagar for a four-day conference.
Vohra said the third round of talks was likely to be held in the first or second week of next month, which would be decided by mutual consent.
Asked if he would meet the leader of the hard-line faction of Hurriyat, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, he said, "we will see as it comes.
"Whosoever is willing to talk to Government of India, the Government of India is willing to talk to them," he added.
The retired bureaucrat is in Srinagar as part of the 35-member India-EU delegation that will deliberate on bilateral issues, including trade, commerce, tourism and strengthening of cultural ties between the two sides.
